5 roster moves the Brooklyn Nets need to make this offseason: 2. Move on from LaMarcus Aldridge

This is not going to be a series of doom and gloom moves for the Nets. However, what they need to do is move on from players who are not contributing to the overall effort of stability within the franchise. At 36, Aldridge is playing reasonably solid basketball, but there is a fragility issue which was the biggest problem for the Nets last season.

Too many players missed too many games, and this includes Aldridge, who played 47 games out of a possible 82. He did average 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, but again, his production will be replaced by the addition of Simmons.

Aldridge also had his heart issue which caused him to retire during his first season with the Nets. He came back after being cleared medically, but doubt is still there. While there is still some compassion in the NBA, it is a business, and franchises need to do what is most likely to bring them a championship.

Unfortunately for the Nets, that does not involve bringing Aldridge back. He has been an incredible piece for the NBA and every single team that he plays for, but he does not serve the Nets’ best interest if they hope to win a championship.
