NBA Trades: 5 trade suitors for Malcolm Brogdon and the Indiana Pacers: Utah Jazz
Lastly, the Utah Jazz could become a trade suitor for Malcolm Brogdon this offseason. The Jazz are another team that could make significant changes to their roster this summer with the drama surrounding the futures of All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert as the headline.
Whether Utah parts ways with one or neither of their two stars, the focus of the offseason should be reshaping the supporting cast. It’s highly unlikely that they would part with both, and it seems more likely that they would prefer to keep Mitchell over Gobert unless a trade is requested.
Evidently, the Jazz can’t reach the ultimate goal with the roster that’s currently constructed. Utah must strengthen its rotation, and it starts at the point guard position. Mike Conley struggled this past season and was abysmal during the team’s first-round postseason loss with career-low averages of 9.2 points and 4.8 assists on 33.3 percent shooting and a whopping 20.0 percent from three-point range.
The Jazz should look to move on from the 34-year-old guard and, as they look for a better replacement, Malcolm Brogdon could emerge as a favorable option. Brogdon would be an upgrade over Conley across all aspects on both ends of the floor.
Additionally, Brogdon and Conley earn the same salary at $22.6 million per year, so salary matching in a potential deal would be a simple solution. Utah would have to attach extra assets such as a draft pick or two, and perhaps it could turn into a multi-team trade, but a deal involving a swap between the two experienced point guards is certainly possible.
As the Indiana Pacers listen to trade offers for Malcolm Brogdon, the Utah Jazz are a team to keep an eye on, as they will be looking to improve their roster throughout the offseason.
