NBA Trades: 5 trade suitors for Malcolm Brogdon and the Indiana Pacers: San Antonio Spurs
If the San Antonio Spurs prefer to speed up their rebuilding process, they could become a suitor for Malcolm Brogdon in the trade market this offseason. With head coach Gregg Popovich nearing retirement, the Spurs could be interested in making another playoff run before the legendary coach calls it a career.
The Spurs have some encouraging pieces to build around such as All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, three first-round picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, and a boatload of cap space this summer. Therefore, San Antonio could make assertive moves in this upcoming free agency, draft, and via trade if the organization intends to make an aggressive playoff push next season.
Acquiring Brogdon would form a productive backcourt duo with Murray on both ends of the floor, and he’d also serve as an ideal veteran presence and leader in that locker room. Brogdon would certainly fit the Spurs’ culture and system of Popovich.
San Antonio could offer draft picks or Indiana native and 22-year-old wing Romeo Langford to entice the Pacers in a potential deal while including the $12.1 million expiring contract of Josh Richardson. If the Spurs want to increase their chances at a playoff appearance moving forward, pursuing Malcolm Brogdon could be an intriguing option.
