Guide to the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2022 offseason: NBA Draft

In the 2022 NBA Draft this summer, the Milwaukee Bucks will hold the 24th overall pick. The Bucks haven’t kept their first-round pick since they drafted Donte DiVincenzo in 2018.

In fact, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only Buck on the current roster that Milwaukee selected in the first round. It’s safe to say that Antetokounmpo turned out to be a pretty good pick, but other than the two-time MVP, the Bucks haven’t had much success with their draft picks.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Milwaukee Bucks keep the pick this year or not. It should be used on another playmaker, wing, or stretch big if they do. They’ll have plenty of options in this deep draft class.

If they don’t use the 24th pick to draft a prospect, the Bucks could attach the pick in a trade to upgrade the roster or potentially offload a hefty contract. As a luxury tax team, Milwaukee will be limited in the trade market and don’t have flexibility with cap space or salary-matching purposes, so don’t expect the Bucks to deliver a major splash via trade this offseason.

Similar to previous years, the front office could use the pick to offload a contract if they wanted to dump Brook Lopez’s $13.9 million expiring contract or George Hill’s $4.0 million expiring salary, for example. Trading back would also be a realistic option. The Milwaukee Bucks will have a variety of strategic options with the 24th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
