5 roster moves the Sacramento Kings need to make this offseason
Offseason roster moves the Sacramento Kings need to make: 2. Pick up Trey Lyles’ team option
Trey Lyles is not a player who is going to move the needle a huge amount. However, he does provide a high level of shooting at the four/five position. He was able to go at 36.5 percent on his 2.6 attempts per game from behind the 3-point line.
At 6’9, Lyles is a good size to play either of the frontcourt positions. This gives the Kings a level of flexibility with their rotations that is going to be crucial if they want to space the floor for their superstar point guard De’Aaron Fox.
Lyles averaged 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in the 24 games that he played for the Kings. Given that he came over at the trade deadline, those are good numbers for Lyles. If he is able to put in a full offseason with the team, there is a chance that he is going to be able to help the Kings more next season.
Another positive for the Kings is that Lyles is only going to earn $2.6 million for next season. If he can continue to provide such good for such a low cost, this will potentially allow the Kings to sign some higher-level talent to help them break their playoff drought.
