The Sacramento Kings made a run at the postseason, but the NBA’s longest streak without a playoff berth just extended for another season. The Kings last made the playoffs way back in 2006, and despite changing some personnel last season, it was more of the same.

The Kings helped the Indiana Pacers start their rebuild when they sent Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson to the Pacers. In return, the Kings received Justin Holiday, Jeremy Lamb, Domantas Sabonis, and a future second-round draft pick. The true jewel of that trade is the inside presence that is Sabonis.

They then made a second trade which was a four-team trade. They traded Marvin Bagley III and the draft rights to Vanja Marinkovic, receiving Josh Jackson, Trey Lyles, David Minchineau, Donte DiVincenzo, and a future second-round pick. They waived three players at this time to help make room on their roster.

Offseason roster moves the Sacramento Kings need to make: 1. Draft Well

The Kings again finished just outside the playoffs, but they did not finish low enough to get a decent shot at a high lottery pick. Currently, before the draft lottery happens, the Kings are slated to get the seventh pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

If the Kings want a chance to get out of the NBA purgatory, they need to make a really savvy selection with this draft. They have some really nice pieces already on the roster with De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis being the two cornerstones moving forward, so a solid small forward would suit their needs.
