Moves the Portland Trail Blazers need to make this offseason: 5. Re-sign Anfernee  Simons

The Trail Blazers were really well-served by their fourth-year guard Anfernee Simons. He had a breakout year, averaging 17.3 points, 3.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.5 steals in 29.5 minutes per game. All of these numbers were career-highs by a fair margin.

The Blazers needed Simons to produce more than usual after Damian Lillard went out with injury and CJ McCollum was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. Simons showed that he is not afraid of the big moments.

With the season that the Trail Blazers had, it is no wonder that Simons was not able to finish it out on the floor. Simons injured his knee at the start of March and the team shut him down for the rest of the season. There was no point risking further injury when the Trail Blazers’ season was already pretty much over.

Simons has already shown good chemistry with Lillard and Nurkic and that will be critical for this team moving forward. If they can get a solid starting unit, then there is a chance they can attract some decent free agents or even trade to get another star for the team.
