Roster moves the Detroit Pistons need to make this offseason: 4. Pick up Saddiq Bey’s team option

One of the joys of a rebuilding team is they have a lot of young players who are low-cost with team options. This means that the team is able to assess their players over time and see what they can produce. Teams who are down the standings are not paying any tax while they are losing.

Saddiq Bey is a perfect example of a player who a team can take a long shot on and see what he is able to produce. In his first two seasons, Bey has shown what a player who was taken with the 19th pick is capable of producing, and towards the end of this season, that was something special.

During a 14-point victory over the Orlando Magic, Bey dropped 51 points in an incredible offensive display. He was incredibly efficient going 17-of-27 from the floor, 10-of-14 from deep, and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Given the amount of talent that the Pistons are stock-piling during the rebuild period, having a player with the ability to heat up and score in bunches like Bey is going to be huge for this team. As he continues to develop, Bey is going to be a key piece for Detroit.
