Offseason moves the Orlando Magic need to make: 4. Pick up Chuma Okeke’s team option

Another tremendous young prospect for the Orlando Magic is Okeke. The second-year pro is developing into a solid player. While he is not really a starter, if the Magic draft well, Okeke will then be able to come off the bench as a rotation player.

Even if the Magic don’t take a power forward or a wing, Okeke will benefit from the return of Isaac. The Magic have tried to use Okeke as a stretch four, given that he is taking 5.3 attempts per game from the perimeter. The problem is that he was only hitting 31.8 percent of them last season.

The good thing about Okeke is that he is able to fill up the box score. He averaged 8.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. If he can develop his game to play alongside the rest of the young core, then he will serve the Magic well.

Like Hampton, Okeke is a cheap option for the Magic. He is only due $3.4 million next season which allows the Magic to look at other players who may be coming out of contract for next season.
