Offseason moves the Orlando Magic need to make: 2. Move on from Mo Bamba

The Magic never got the benefit of the Mo Bamba experience. He was taken with pick sixth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and one of the reasons that the Magic never managed to develop into serious contenders. He raised them to a mid-standings team and the Magic did not get another top-10 pick until the 2021 NBA Draft.

The 23-year-old stretch-five averaged 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 0.9 steals in 18.6 minutes per game. His shooting percentages were decent, going 47.5 percent from the floor, 35.2 percent from deep, but only 68.5 percent from the line.

Bamba has also missed a large number of games over the four seasons that he has played. In fact, he has only played more than 62 games once, and that was last season. He came close to averaging a double-double with 10.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Given that he started almost every game that he played, Bamba should have averaged more as one of the more experienced members of the team. With the number of quality big men that the Magic have on their roster, it would be beneficial if the Magic could get a sign-and-trade for the big man. Either way, this roster spot needs to go to a player who will develop with the rest of the core.
