The wild journey of Spencer Dinwiddie this season: Dinwiddie’s thoughts

And while his game-winner against Brooklyn was impressive, it was Dinwiddie’s words after the contest that show just how well he fits in with the Dallas Mavericks.

"“All the credit to the team,” said Dinwiddie to ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth when asked about his comfort level after hitting back-to-back game-winners. “Credit JB, credit to Luka, obviously. But it was all the guys, J-Kidd, Dudley, Theo, my friends from past stops, Bullock. They’re the ones that make me feel comfortable.”"

Dinwiddie is clearly comfortable in Dallas. If the veteran keeps up this momentum, the Mavericks will be tough to beat in the postseason, as Dončić now has a high-level secondary scorer next to him.

The veteran’s play could even excel next season as he continues with his recovery. And given the impending free agency of Brunson with his rumored-desire to get paid, Dinwiddie could be an even more important part of their future.

He’s come a long way since his time with the Wizards. Following a Mavs win over the Sacramento Kings where he recorded 36 points and seven assists, Dinwiddie spoke about the situation in Washington.

"“To be bashed on the way out the door hurt my feelings for sure,” he said. “I think I’m human, of course. And you gotta remember, I won a lot of games for them. When we were, what was it, 10-1 at one point and you know, 12-5. Whatever it was, when everybody was going crazy and we had all those clutch games, I was the one hitting the game-winners.”"

Dinwiddie poured his feelings out, thanking and crediting the Wizards front office and ownership for giving him that contract coming off the torn ACL, but it was clear that the way it ended wasn’t fun for either side.

But now that he’s in Dallas, things seem to be running smoothly. He has a chance to help the Mavericks accomplish something special.
