3 teams that should sign Mitchell Robinson this offseason: Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have something really interesting brewing. Despite another tanking season, the Pistons have actually been playing very competitive basketball since the All-Star break.

A lot of this has had to do with the great play of both Jerami Grant and rookie Cade Cunningham. Each of them has stepped up in a big way, and Mitchell Robinson would fit right in.

Isaiah Stewart has been starting in Detroit, and they also brought in Marvin Bagley III at the trade deadline. And in a shocking turn of events, Bagley has played really well ever since leaving Sacramento.

But something that neither of those two players provides the Pistons is rim protection. Stewart is undersized for the center position and Bagley has spent most of his professional career playing the four.

By adding Robinson, the Pistons would be getting someone who could lock down the paint on defense and also provide Cunningham with a lob threat on the offensive side of the floor.

As they continue to improve upon their young core, bringing in a true seven-footer could be a smart move for Detroit. And the fact that Robinson is only 23 years old still means that he fits the Pistons’ timeline perfectly.
