3 NBA teams New Mexico State star Teddy Allen would thrive on: Indiana Pacers

As mentioned, Teddy Allen is a professional scorer. During his time at New Mexico St., he earned the nickname “Teddy Buckets” and even got t-shirts with that phrase printed on them.

The Indiana Pacers are about to begin a rebuild, as they just traded away their franchise star in Domantas Sabonis in exchange for a talented young point guard in Tyrese Haliburton.

As the Pacers usher in the new guard and begin (most likely) trading all of their veterans away, they’re going to be looking for new talent. Allen would be a valuable asset for them to bring off their bench.

Over the course of this season, Indiana has done a great job of taking on underrated young talent. They got Jalen Smith from the Phoenix Suns for nothing, found Terry Taylor in the G-League, and banned Duane Washington Jr. as an undrafted rookie.

Washington was a three-year college player, so the Pacers clearly have no problem taking a chance on older players. By adding Allen, they would have a nice one-two punch off the bench at the wing position with him and Washington.

Allen is a scrappy, hungry player who would be able to help set a new culture in Indiana alongside guys like Haliburton and Taylor. That sort of scrappiness is exactly what all young teams should want.
