The Miami Heat are the best team in the Eastern Conference this season. But miraculously, they’ve done this whilst dealing with a ton of injuries to their top players.

The four-man lineup of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayom Kyle Lowry, and Tyler Herro has played a total of 82 minutes together this season. For reference, the four-man lineup that has played the most minutes this year has logged 967.

Miami is in a prime position to compete for an NBA championship this season. That being said, just because they are in a great spot right now doesn’t mean they won’t be willing to shake things up in the future.

NBA Rumors: Miami Heat willing to trade Tyler Herro for star

According to an anonymous NBA general manager, the Miami Heat would be willing to give up Tyler Herro in a deal if it meant getting back a superior, superstar-level talent.

Jake Fischer reported the news, mentioning that the GM noted how “Miami goes big-fish hunting” often and is more than willing to make a splash if an opportunity becomes available.

The GM would go on to discuss how the Heat always have a plan for any scenario, saying that “they’re a team that plans for every situation.”

Trading Herro away would definitely be a shocking decision, as he’s currently having the best season of his career. So far this season, Herro is averaging 20.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 38.4 percent from deep.

Herro is the clear favorite to take home the Sixth Man of the Year award, and at only 22 years old, looks primed to be a multiple-time All-Star and one of the better guards in the league.

From his play in The Bubble to the part he’s played in Miami’s success this season, there would certainly be a robust interest in him in the trade market.

Some names that come to mind in terms of availability this offseason include shooting guards Bradley Beal and Donovan Mitchell. Beal has a player option for next year, while Mitchell has expressed interest in playing in a bigger market.

Will the Heat trade Herro this season? Who knows. It seems highly unlikely with how he’s played, but with how much the Heat love chasing stars, anything is possible.
