2022 NBA Offseason: Predicting 3 potential NBA trades: Bradley Beal

76ers receive: Bradley Beal

Wizards receive: Tobias Harris, Jaden Springer, Isaiah Joe, 2024 First-Round Pick Top-20 Protected

Sorry, Washington Wizards fans, but it’s looking less and less likely that Bradley Beal will be on the Wizards next season. No matter how many times he says he’ll be back, it just doesn’t seem realistic.

Boston Celtics fans have first-hand experience with this – players change their minds. Kyrie Irving said that he wanted to re-sign in Boston, said that he wasn’t plotting with Kevin Durant, and then did the exact opposite of everything he said.

Recently, former NBA player Andrew Bogut said on his podcast that Beal is “trying to get to Philadelphia” to form a Big 3 with both Joel Embiid and James Harden.

Beal has a player option in his contract for next year which he is expected to opt-out of. But since the Philadelphia 76ers don’t have enough cap space to take in Beal’s salary, they would have to do a sign-and-trade.

And for all those Wizards fans saying, “well then the Wizards should just not agree to a sign-and-trade” – sure. But if they do that, it’s a fair assumption to say that Beal wouldn’t be thrilled with the team.

In this case, if Beal does want to leave, then at least the Wizards would be getting something back in return. Tobias Hariss’ contract is awful, yes, but they’d get to young players (unproven, but still) and a draft pick.
