Re-grading the top 10 picks of the 2012 NBA Draft
The NBA Draft is a very special event. It is a time for NBA franchises to potentially draft a superstar to add to their roster, whether they be rebuilding or pushing for a championship run.
In most cases, the top 10 picks of the NBA Draft often end up being the best group of players out of the bunch. While several players in the top 10 end up being busts every year, most of the top players in the league today were selected within the top 10 picks of the NBA Draft.
The 2012 NBA Draft is one of the better draft classes in recent memory, as it has given us some of the best players in the league, with a couple of them being selected in the top 10.
So let’s take a second to re-visit that 2012 NBA Draft 10 years later. Here are grades for every player selected in the top ten.
Grading the top 10 picks of the 2012 NBA Draft: 1. Anthony Davis – A+
This was probably the easiest grade to give out, as Anthony Davis is arguably a Hall-of-Famer already, in addition to the fact that he has already made the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team.
Davis has been one of the best players in the entire NBA since he entered the league. With career averages of 23.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, Davis has made eight All-Star games, four All-NBA teams, and four All-Defensive teams.
Davis has also been one of the best two-way players in the NBA. While he has been plagued with injuries the last couple of seasons, this does not change the fact that when healthy, Davis is one of the best players in the NBA.
Whether it be his dominant runs as the top player on the New Orleans Pelicans or his part in bringing the Los Angeles Lakers a championship with LeBron James, Davis has been truly dominant for his entire career, when healthy. If he can overcome his recent injury struggles, the doubt behind Davis’ HOF validity will fade quickly.
