3 keys behind the Milwaukee Bucks recent win streak: Productivity of the Big 3

At halftime of the All-Star game in Cleveland a few weeks ago, the NBA gathered the 75 greatest players together for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. After the ceremony, a picture of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Peirce smiling together shocked the basketball world.

It had been years since these three were on speaking terms, but it was good to see that time heals all wounds. Regardless of whether or not they are friends away from the game, these three Hall of Famers will forever be remembered as the “Big Three” that led the Boston Celtics to a championship and changed the NBA forever.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a Big 3 of their own in Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. Antetokounmpo is arguably the best player in the league, Middleton is an elite wing scorer, and Holiday is a great two-way player who gives the other team’s point guard fits at both ends of the floor. The Bucks will go as far as this trio of stars takes them. The fate of the franchise rests squarely on their shoulders.

During the team’s four-game winning streak, all three of the team’s leaders have stepped up, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Antetokounmpo has averaged  26.8 points, while Middleton and Holiday have averaged 27.8 and 24.0 points per game respectively. When Coach Budenholzer can rely on his three stars to pour in almost 80 points between them, it makes his job a lot easier, and the wins take care of themselves.

For the fourth consecutive season, the Milwaukee Bucks are one of the top contenders to win the NBA championship. This year’s playoff race is as tight as any they’ve been involved in during that time span.

Last season, Milwaukee proved they are a team that’s built for the playoffs. Over the last four games, they’ve reminded us how fun they are to watch when they’re clicking on all cylinders. If they keep performing at this level, there’s no limit to what they can accomplish once the postseason finally arrives.
