3 reasons the Trail Blazers should trade Damian Lillard: Rebuild ready

Based on how the Trail Blazers have played since the trade deadline, it’s never been a better time for the team to reset and rebuild around the current core.

Sure, it’s a very small sample size, but they’ve looked like an impressive bunch as of late. The pure energy and heart that they play with are enough to have some faith in this group.

First and foremost, Anfernee Simons looks like a star in the making. Rebuilding around him is the obvious way forward for the Blazers, and giving him the keys instead of Damian Lillard makes sense.

Simons is only 22 years old and still has plenty of room to grow and in the last couple of months, he’s already looked like an All-Star in the making. That should give Portland a ton of faith moving forward.

Then there’s Josh Hart. The Blazers acquired him from the New Orleans Pelicans in the CJ McCollum trade and he’s looked amazing so far during his time in Portland.

Hart is the type of player that, if put in the right situation, has all the tools to be a star in the NBA – he just needs a chance to shine. He’s the type of player that can be the heartbeat of any organization.

That’s without even mentioning players such as Justise Winslow, Trendon Watford, and CJ Elleby, all of whom have played well for the Blazers as of late.

With the young core currently on the roster, there will never be a better moment to hit the reset button. They have all the pieces in place, now it’s time to get the rebuild started by allowing the last domino to fall.
