NBA Trades: 3 realistic Myles Turner trades for the Pacers – Charlotte Hornets
Hornets receive: Myles Turner, Keifer Sykes
Pacers receive: PJ Washington, Mason Plumlee, Ish Smith, 2024 First-Round Pick, 2022 Second-Round Pick (via TOR), 2026 Second-Round Pick
The Charlotte Hornets have been one of the teams rumored to be interested in Myles Turner for a long, long time, and this deal would be able to help the Indiana Pacers as well.
Charlotte has been one of the worst defensive teams in the league this year. However, their offense has been good enough to carry the load and keep them in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Adding Myles Turner to the mix could potentially solve a lot of their problems, especially considering that improving their center position is by far their biggest need.
His defensive presence in the paint could start to transform their presence on the defensive side of the floor. Plus, his three-point shooting would be able to help them on the offensive end.
As far as Keifer Sykes goes, he would simply be replacing Ish Smith as the backup point guard in this deal. The 28-year-old rookie provides a somewhat similar skillset.
Meanwhile, the Pacers would get a nice young player in PJ Washington and some decent picks in the trade. Mason Plumlee and Smith would simply be salary fillers.
Washington could be a solid Turner replacement for the Pacers to take a chance on, but the real prizes in this deal are the picks Indiana would add to their toolshed.
Overall, this is the type of package the Pacers should expect to get for Turner, and the Hornets could improve their defense a ton in this trade, too.
