NBA Trades: 3 potential Dennis Schroder trades for the Celtics – Dallas Mavericks

Finally, I think that Dennis Schroder could really thrive in Dallas next to Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. Dallas has been rumored to be interested in both Schroder and Marcus Smart, however, for the asking price, I feel as though a Schroder trade makes the most sense.

The Mavericks desperately need a shot creator off the bench now that Jalen Brunson has been elevated to a starting role. Schroder could easily become a high-usage sixth man for Dallas, as he is proficient in running the pick and roll and could do so with Kristaps Porzingis, as well as create offense for himself off the dribble.

Jason Kidd has installed a slower offense this year in Dallas, and Schroder could certainly be a steadying veteran presence to help run that offense off the bench.

Parting with Dorian Finney-Smith would be difficult for many Mavericks fans, but as his contract expires at the end of the year, it would be wise to capitalize on his value now. The Mavericks have had an impressive second act this season, but I think trading for Schroder could finally help them escape a first-round exit.

For Boston, they get a serviceable wing to deploy off the bench and bolster their already impressive defense. Whether or not they would re-sign DFS at the end of the season is up in the air, however it allows them to have some flexibility in their roster. Plus, they get a future pick in the deal.

This year’s trade season has already seen some interesting moves come to pass, and many NBA fans think it is only the beginning. Before Thursday, we could see some major moves that will change the landscape of the title race.

Dennis Schroder might not guarantee a championship for the team that trades for him, but don’t be surprised if a contender takes a chance on him before the deadline.
