NBA Trades: 5 potential trade targets for the Cavaliers – Evan Fournier

An interesting option for the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade for ahead of the deadline could be New York Knicks shooting guard Evan Fournier.

Fournier, a veteran sharpshooter, could be another candidate to fill the void at shooting guard depth for the Cavs. The Knicks have reportedly made him available via trade along with Kemba Walker and Alec Burks, so there’s clearly a chance that the 29-year-old could be moved.

He’s averaging 13.4 points per game while shooting 38.9 percent from three-point land this season. Of course, Cleveland would only pursue Fournier if they really felt the need to upgrade its shooting corps, especially from behind the arc.

Fournier signed a four-year, $73 million contract in the offseason in a sign-and-trade deal that sent him from Boston to New York, who has deeply underachieved this year. His career really took off when he was a member of the Orlando Magic not too long ago, but still has that fire in him.

His contract might be unappealing to Cleveland, but Rubio’s expiring contract and a couple of second-round picks could get a deal done depending on New York’s asking price. The Cavs would unlikely include a first-round pick for him.

If the Cavaliers find themselves desperate for an upgrade at shooting guard before the trade deadline, Evan Fournier could be a realistic option to pursue.
