NBA Trades: 3 point guard trade targets for the Knicks – Dejounte Murray

Moving onto the more unrealistic, yet still possible, scenarios, we have Dejounte Murray. A player that frustratingly does not make many headlines and rarely gets the credit he deserves (which is one of the top young point guards in the league).

Murray is in the running for the Most Improved Player award and is making a strong case for his first-ever NBA All-Star selection too. Yes, the San Antonio Spurs are struggling a ton, but Murray has blossomed into a true star under Gregg Popovich.

This brings us to the elephant in the room. Would the Spurs be open to even discussing Murray’s future? Well, even though a trade would be very hard to pull off, he is definitely not at the level to be considered truly untouchable.

The Spurs are in a pretty weird place right now. They are rebuilding, but also not at the same time. They do have some young pieces, but none of them are exceptional. Let’s not forget that coach Pop may not be with the team for many more seasons to help oversee their development, either.

The New York Knicks certainly have the pieces to provide a very generous offer to the Spurs. They may have to overpay, something that Leon Rose certainly will not enjoy doing, but Murray just might be worth it.
