Northwest Division NBA trades: Minnesota Timberwolves – Harrison Barnes

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently a play-in tournament team, and they should keep an aggressive approach in mind leading up to the deadline to keep it that way. As Minnesota aims to bolster their roster, one player that would help tremendously is Harrison Barnes.

The Wolves have had some questions surrounding the power forward position this season, and a piece like Barnes could answer all of them immediately. He has been a quality veteran for several years now and is currently having one of his best seasons.

Barnes is averaging 16.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Taking into account his solid defense as well, Barnes would be a great fit for the Timberwolves, particularly alongside their trio of star players in Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, and Anthony Edwards.

As for Barnes’ availability on the trade market, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly willing to include him in trade talks, per James Ham of The Kings Beat (subscription required).

Minnesota would have to find a way to take on his $20 million salary this season, which is far from easy, but they have the assets to get it done. As the Timberwolves try to stay competitive in the jam-packed Western Conference, swinging a trade for Barnes could be just what the doctor ordered.
