3 NBA rookies who have disappointed so far this season – Moses Moody
Moses Moody to the Warriors made complete sense when the team drafted him 14th overall in 2021. He was a pro-ready shooter who could come in and help the team compete right away with a win-now roster.
Jump forward several months and the sharpshooter is averaging less than 10 minutes per game and has made just one start when the Warriors were shorthanded. It’s not entirely his fault that he’s not in Steve Kerr’s rotation, but he hasn’t exactly lit it up when given the chance.
He’s been highly inefficient, sporting a ghastly 33/12/80 slash line that’ll quickly make you forget he was one of the nation’s top scorers in his freshman season at Arkansas. Fellow lottery pick Jonathan Kuminga has also been near the end of the bench but has provided electric plays when on the floor.
Moody, at least not yet, hasn’t shown the capabilities of doing the same. His time to shine has come in the G-League, where he’s performed quite well. We’ve seen many times players not be able to translate successes between those two leagues, however.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Moody is a premier contributor for Golden State (or another team) in a few years, but for someone who was expected to make an instantaneous impact, he hasn’t yet.
