The Boston Celtics are in a very weird place as a team. They’ve obviously struggled a lot this season, but they are currently picking things back up, winning five of their last six games.

NBA trades rumors have been mauling the team this season, with everyone from Jaylen Brown to Juancho Hernangomez being thrown around. It’s pure madness.

Well, things might have just gotten even crazier. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics are assessing the value of multiple players on the roster.

Players mentioned by Wojnarowski include point guard Dennis Schroder, wing Josh Richardson, second and third-year players, and long-time Celtic Marcus Smart.

That last name is the one to watch. Smart has been with the Celtics for his entire career, but with Wojnarowski bringing his name up, the likelihood of him being dealt has never been higher.

So with that in mind, what are some NBA trades for Marcus Smart? What teams could use him, and what would the Boston Celtics get back in return?

NBA Trades: 3 Marcus Smart trades based on recent NBA rumors – Portland Trail Blazers

Trail Blazers receive: Marcus Smart, Romeo Langford, Enes Freedom, 2024 First-Round Pick, 2022 Second-Round Pick

Celtics receive: Norman Powell, Robert Covington

Over the past few years, the Portland Trail Blazers have been known for one thing in particular – having an elite offense but an absolutely horrendous defense.

Adding Marcus Smart into the mix would undoubtedly help with that, but it would cost them Norman Powell (who they are rumored to be shopping) and Robert Covington (who is on an expiring contract).

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics would get some much-needed extra shooting around their two stars. Plus, Robert Covington would provide some short-term relief at the forward position.

This trade would help both teams fix an area of need. The Trail Blazers would improve their defense while the Celtics would get better on the offensive end.
