Oklahoma City Thunder rookie watch – Aaron Wiggins
For so many years, the Oklahoma City Thunder were the victim of A. Wiggins scoring on them at will. That was Andrew Wiggins, who went to another level when playing the Thunder.
Well, in a true case of if you can’t beat them, draft them, the Thunder selected A. Wiggins with the 55th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Aaron Wiggins was then signed as one of the Thunder’s two-way players.
It is safe to say that the Thunder picked themselves up an absolute bargain with Wiggins. He has played in 24 games, starting in 13 of them. He is the absolute definition of what the NBA was looking to achieve with the two-way contracts when they were introduced a few seasons back.
While his averages are not the greatest, his growth has been astronomical. He is averaging 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.7 steals in 20.7 minutes per game. However, what he was able to achieve post-Christmas is incredible.
Wiggins had seven straight games where he scored in double digits, including two games where he scored over 20 points. Depending on how the trade period goes for the Thunder, if they find themselves with an open roster spot, expect it to be filled by Wiggins.
