NBA Trades: Should the Orlando Magic trade Jonathan Isaac?

So we ask again. Would you trade him? The Atlanta Hawks recently moved Cam Reddish for the altogether achievable sum of Kevin Knox and a first-round pick (belonging to the Charlotte Hornets).

If the Magic could get something similar for Isaac, would they consider the deal? Assuming the first-rounder is like the pick in the Reddish trade, and is later in the first round.

Or would that seem like a huge waste on a guy taken with the sixth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft? The Magic would be foolish not to see if there were any young players (who have also struggled to really make their mark) out there they could get, as well as a pick. It would consolidate their position now and show that they are committed to winning around the other guys, s they should be.

The main stumbling block, of course, is the contract. But if the Magic took back a large expiring deal, or even somebody like a Ben Simmons (surely not?) as part of a larger deal in which they’d have to include other assets, would that be the best move?

It just really feels like the Magic are starting to catch onto something legitimate, and Isaac seems no closer to helping. Better to move off him now while he still has value of some kind (even if that contract is a tough one to move), and use what is sure to be a high lottery pick this coming summer on another potential star.

The evolution of Wagner at a rapid rate has also made it easier to consider moving on from Isaac, but would you be brave enough to make that call? What NBA trades would even be out there…?
