Cam Reddish will be unhappy on the New York Knicks

There are indications around the league that the New York Knicks and Cam Reddish are not a perfect fit for each other.

Fred Katz and Chris Kirschner of The Athletic (subscription required) stated on January 13th that Reddish wanted a change of scenery because he was looking to be on a team that would give him consistent minutes in a prominent offensive role.

The New York Knicks and Cam Reddish have different goals and expectations

He thinks that a more prominent offensive role would increase the likelihood of him getting a significant extension. Reddish provided some details as to what he thinks the prominent offensive role should be.

Before this season, Reddish told Kirschner (subscription required) that he wanted to spend more time in the playmaker/creator role like he did in high school. He talked about wanting to get back to his old self.

He spoke a lot about his time in high school and how he was able to handle the ball. Reddish feels that if he were able to get an opportunity like that in the NBA, he would be able to thrive.

Unfortunately for him, the Knicks will not allow him to have a more significant offensive role. Currently, the team runs an offensive system centered around pick and rolls, isolations, and post-ups.
