NBA Trades: 3 Donovan Mitchell trades to send him to a bigger market – Miami Heat

Heat receive: Donovan Mitchell

Jazz receive: Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Max Strus, 2028 Second-Round Pick

According to Miami Heat insider (and apparently, also radio host) Greg Sylvander, if Donovan Mitchell were to request a trade, Miami would be his top destination, followed by New York.

Now, believe this report or not, Miami would certainly qualify as a big market, and it would be a place Mitchell could go to win. Like all of these NBA trades, this is almost definitely not going to happen this year (or ever), but this would be the Heat’s best package.

Some might think they’d be giving up a lot, but this would help them get setp up for the future. It may be a lot of assets, but Lowry would need to be included to match salaries, and the Jazz wouldn’t accept a trade without either Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro.

When picking out of those two, it’s fairly obvious who the Heat should want to keep, especially considering they’d be getting Mitchell in the trade, anyways.

For Utah, this may not be the ideal return, but if Mitchell wanted to go to Miami, they probably wouldn’t get great offers elsewhere.

This trade would net them a second All-Star-caliber guard in Kyle Lowry, as well as an underrated young star in Tyler Herro. They’d also get a quality rotational piece in Max Strus for their troubles.

Herro has the potential to be special in this league, and while it may hurt for Heat fans to part ways with him, getting a playoff-proven star like Mitchell just might be worth it.
