Based on the title, one might think this is crazy. And that’s because it is. It would be absolutely crazy for the New Orleans Pelicans to trade Zion Williamson. He’s a young, up-and-coming superstar who has the potential to lead them to championships.

But what if it wasn’t crazy?

NBA Trades: 2 blockbuster Zion Williamson trades

Williamson has yet to play in a game this season. He’s played in 85 games throughout his three-year career – just 45.9 percent of the games the Pelicans have played.

He came into the league dealing with health issues, and fast forward two years, he’s still dealing with problems. Reports from Tim MacMahon of ESPN stated that sources told him that Williamson weighed 330 lbs, at one point.

That would be the heaviest player in the NBA by a large margin, and Williamson is only listed at 6-6. That cannot be good for his long-term health in the NBA.

In addition to his inability to stay on the court, Williamson’s family may not even want him to play in New Orleans. Rumors from this past offseason indicated that his family was unhappy with his current situation. That’s not a great look for a guy just a couple of years deep into his NBA career.

Williamson has shown the ability to dominate. He controls the paint like no other, scoring at will. But all of that is completely useless if he can’t stay healthy to do so.

Combine that with the fact that he may not be happy, and the Pelicans might have an issue on their hands. Why not explore some NBA trades for the young superstar?

What are some wild, yet unlikely, NBA trades the Pelicans could explore for Zion Williamson? Would they be able to find any sort of return that they would like?
