Atlantic Division NBA Trades: New York Knicks – Myles Turner

The New York Knicks have been connected to just about every rumored trade target there is as they look to make another playoff push this season. They showed their aggressiveness with a trade for Cam Reddish with the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, but they might not be done just yet.

Currently sitting at 11th place in the Eastern Conference, they could use more help before the deadline to climb in the standings, and a player they reportedly see fitting is Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.

SNY’s Ian Begley recently reported that there are people within the organization that see Turner as “someone worth pursuing.” That interest makes sense, given that Turner has cemented himself among the best shot-blocking big men in the league today as he currently leads the association in blocks this season, a feat he has achieved twice already.

Turner is also a solid player offensively, averaging 12.7 points per contest this season while shooting a passable 35 percent from three for his career. While the Knicks currently have a handful of talented players in the frontcourt alongside Julius Randle like Mitchell Robinson, Taj Gibson, and Nerlens Noel, Turner would be an immediate upgrade to make the Knicks a more formidable threat.

The Pacers big man is one of the most coveted players on the trade market after The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported earlier in the season that the Indiana Pacers are willing to move him and several others (subscription required) on the roster for the right price.

The Knicks have the assets in tow to make an enticing offer for Turner, who is making a combined $35 million over the next two seasons. The big man would be a massive boost for New York’s defense while bringing versatility on offense, both of which would be incredibly useful to help them get back in the current playoff hunt.
