NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades based on recent NBA rumors – Portland Trail Blazers

Hawks receive: CJ McCollum, Robert Covington, Larry Nance Jr.

Trail Blazers receive: John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Lou Williams, 2023 Second-Round Pick, 2026 Second-Round Pick

This may seem like an odd move, but with how the Portland Trail Blazers’ season is playing out, it might be for the best. Damian Lillard is set to miss significant time, and they could use this time to reset a bit.

Portland would add a nice young piece in Collins that might fit better alongside Lillard than CJ McCollum does. Pairing Lillard with an athletic frontcourt player would be a nice change of pace.

Plus, they’d get a scoring wing to help replace McCollum in Bogdan Bogdanovic. Add in Lou Williams as a sparkplug scorer (admittedly towards the back end of his career), and that’s a decent package.

On the flip side, the Hawks would get a solid second-option scorer, as well as some much-needed defensive pieces. This would be quite the haul for Collins.

The backcourt of Trae Young and McCollum would certainly have defensive issues, but they would be paired with a solid defensive frontcourt of Robert Covington, Larry Nance Jr., and Clint Capela.

Nate McMillan could even throw in De’Andre Hunter over Nance and the defense would still be great. The point is, Atlanta would get some solid defensive pieces in return for Collins.

Both teams could benefit from this deal. The Hawks would reshape their roster with extra scoring and defenders, while the Trail Blazers would change how the team looks around Lillard.
