NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades based on recent NBA rumors
By Jack Simone
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic (subscription required), John Collins is growing frustrated with his role with the Atlanta Hawks. He wants more opportunities, yet each year he’s been in Atlanta his chances have gone down.
The Hawks are struggling to meet expectations this year after an Eastern Conference Finals run last season. They’re well under .500 right now and could struggle to even reach the play-in tournament.
As these issues continue to shine through, the Hawks will likely be active in talks surrounding any NBA trades. With Collins’ clear frustration with the team, there’s no reason to hold him out of those discussions.
What are some NBA trades the Hawks could get done involving John Collins? What sort of return would Atlanta be getting in return?
NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades based on recent NBA rumors – Philadelphia 76ers
Hawks receive: Ben Simmons
76ers receive: John Collins, Cam Reddish, Lou Williams, 2023 First-Round Pick
This is the most obvious trade that could come out of this situation. Ben Simmons has yet to play all season, and John Collins could be the (close to) All-Star-caliber player the 76ers have been searching for.
The pairing of Collins and Joel Embiid may seem a bit odd, but with Collins’ floor-spacing ability, they could make it work. This would also make a ton of sense if Philadelphia trades Tobias Harris, which they reportedly hope to do.
Philadelphia would also get a nice young wing in Cam Reddish in this deal. He’s still got plenty of untapped potential, and the Hawks are rumored to be shopping him.
Atlanta would get the elite defender they need to pair next to Trae Young in Simmons. This deal could end up working out well for both sides and their respective disgruntled stars.
