NBA Trades: 3 teams that should trade for Cam Reddish – 1. Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are in the midst of a lengthy rebuild. But there are signs that a young solid core is starting to form that could accelerate the franchise’s timeline for contention.

Houston has a center of the future in Christian Wood. It also has a guard tandem of the future with rookie Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr., who is making the most of his new life in Houston. But what about the wings?

Jae’Sean Tate has shown a decent amount of promise and could be worth a further look in the years to come. But there’s not a surefire other option to lead the bench or to join the young core in the starting lineup.

Reddish would fit nicely with the team’s contention timeline. The Rockets don’t have a lot of onerous long-term deals on the books, but they could still be a bit stingy about extending Reddish if he doesn’t work out in a trial run after a trade.

Figuring out what to give up could be a challenge. The team would obviously love to move off the John Wall or Eric Gordon contracts, but that might not be possible. Picks and young players would likely have to move, requiring an internal review of who and what can really be part of the franchise’s future.

At the end of the day, the Rockets are on an upwards trajectory and so is Reddish, who would fit well with the core the team is developing. It could be a risk worth taking for the franchise.
