4 three-team NBA trades involving Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris: Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers
This final trade gives the Los Angeles Lakers a chance to correct their biggest mistake in recent years, while also seeing the Sacramento Kings make a move they should have made following the draft last year. We will take this one team by team.
The Sacramento Kings change the outlook of their roster, shipping out De’Aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, and Buddy Hield. This would see them shift to building around Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell.
Ben Simmons comes in to play the Draymond Green role that he was born to play, cementing this team as a dynamic defensive starting five. Tobias Harris adds scoring punch with hopes that the change of scenery rejuvenates him.
Talen Horton-Tucker has some intrigue and can be brought along slowly off the bench with significantly less pressure than he currently faces.
For the Sixers, De’Aaron Fox looked to be the perfect player for them a season ago. He averaged 25.2 points and 7.2 assists per game while finally shooting above 30 percent from distance.
If moving on can help him get back to that, this trade is a no-brainer for the Sixers. Barnes gives the Sixers everything they currently want from Harris at nearly half the annual salary. Wayne Ellington and Kendrick Nunn are decent additional shooting options off the bench to round out the return.
For the Lakers, they find a way to change plenty of roster flotsam by swapping out their only intriguing young prospect for the shooter they should have acquired before trading for Russell Westbrook.
Hield is off to a slower start this season but is still shooting 38.0 percent on 9.4 attempts per game beyond the arc. Charles Bassey and Paul Reed give the Lakers two more young guys to inevitably hype up as trade pieces three months later.
