Central Division NBA Trades: Cleveland Cavaliers – Cam Reddish

The Cleveland Cavaliers are among the few teams that have already made a trade this season, as they made a move for Rajon Rondo following the devastating injury to Ricky Rubio.

With the Cavs back in the playoff picture for the first time in a long time, they must seize the opportunity and do everything possible to improve. One option that fits the billing would be trading for Cam Reddish to bolster their wing rotation, a move they reportedly already had some interest in making.

Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported back in August that Reddish was reportedly available on the trade market and the Cavaliers contacted the Atlanta Hawks about a deal. Obviously, nothing ever materialized between the two teams, but given Reddish’s strong play this season, Cleveland would be wise to reignite those conversations with Atlanta.

Reddish is having a career year, averaging 12.3 points per game while shooting 40.2 percent from the field and a much-improved 37.9 percent from three-point land. Standing at 6-foot-8 with a stunning 7-foot-1 wingspan, Reddish has also proven to be a versatile defender. The Cavaliers could use a two-way player like that to increase their playoff chances.

On the books for $4.7 million, Reddish is an affordable trade target financially, but his outstanding play this season may have heightened his trade value significantly.

As Fedor noted in his reporting, the Hawks were initially seeking a first-round pick in return for Reddish, but that may have changed by now. Regardless, the Cavaliers should do their due diligence.
