3 NBA trades for the Hawks to get Trae Young a co-star: Brandon Ingram

Hawks receive: Brandon Ingram, Garrett Temple

Pelicans receive: Cam Reddish, De’Andre Huner, Danilo Gallinari, 2023 First-Round Pick, 2026 First-Round Pick

This trade would give the Atlanta Hawks an elite secondary scoring option behind Trae Young. Brandon Ingram has been great this season as he attempts to help the Pelicans climb out of their early-season hole.

Getting an elite wing scorer would help take Atlanta’s offense to the next level. They’re already great on that end, but this would take a ton of pressure off of Young.

Garrett Temple is a solid veteran to have around, too. He’s obviously not the main part of this deal, but he’d be a solid two-way presence to have at their disposal.

Meanwhile, this trade would signal that the New Orleans Pelicans are significantly retooling their roster. With Zion Williamson still yet to return, maybe they shift gears a bit.

Even with Williamson on the court, this team wouldn’t be anywhere near title contention. Trading Ingram away for two young wings with heaps of potential could be good for them.

Cam Reddish played with Williamson at Duke, so they already have a connection. And De’Andre Hunter has the potential to be one of the best two-way wings in the NBA if he can get healthy.

Danilo Gallinari would provide some nice, short-term spacing, but is mainly in this deal for salary-matching purposes. Both teams could benefit from a trade like this.
