Brad Stevens has enough assets in his arsenal to upgrade the Boston Celtics by the February trade deadline

Josh Richardson, Dennis Schroder, Romeo Langford, and Grant Williams, along with a first-round pick should make for a nice trade package for a contending team.

It’s also not completely out of the realm of possibilities to include Marcus Smart in a trade package. The Celtics need to upgrade the position and moving Smart might be the best/easiest way to do so. There’s currently no real future for the position, and that’s a major problem that needs to be addressed.

It’s worth mentioning how these TPEs came to the Celtics. The $17.1 million TPE was created by trading Evan Fournier to the New York Knicks (which was magic by Stevens.) The other TPE is worth $9.7 million, which was created when the Celtics traded Tristan Thompson to the Sacramento Kings.

Whatever the case may be, I completely trust that Stevens will upgrade this team by the deadline. If this Celtics team is a .500 team at best, then it’s in the best interest of the team to try and make a deal by the deadline for multiple reasons – the main two being overall value and return on investment.

There’s been a few speculations and rumors as to who the Boston Celtics should acquire (a few that I can even get behind). Some realistic options are Dejounte Murray, Buddy Heild, Jerami Grant, De’Aaron Fox, and Domantas Sabonis.

It’s time to see what Stevens can do for the Boston Celtics in his new position of power.
