Orlando Magic rookie Franz Wanger is being severely underappreciated: Both he and the Magic deserve credit

Outside of the aforementioned Anthony, Wagner is not getting a lot of help right now. But still, he is averaging 15 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting over 35 percent from deep, and opponents don’t even have to game plan for much more than Wagner either.

His 1.1 steals per game are also a nice bonus for a guy who, if nothing else, is clearly trying on the defensive end.

While Wagner deserves basically all of the credit for this, the Magic organization can once again pat themselves on the back. As hard as it is to navigate trying to build a winning culture in a small market, they have handled every situation they have been presented with well. This includes not only drafting Wagner, but also keeping his older brother Moritz around.

The elder Wagner is a decent NBA player and has demonstrated this since coming into the league in 2018. Franz has clearly benefitted from having the family guidance, especially as his brother has already navigated playing in the league. Plus, they’re coming up with hilarious content like this, which we’re here for.

All of which is to say, if Franz Wagner played for basically any other team, he would be getting a lot more love. It is a strange phenomenon, but playing in Orlando seems to make you invisible to pretty much all national media, except for Zach Lowe.

But for now, he’ll have to make do with the love and adulation of the Magic fanbase, and continue doing his thing. Everybody else will catch on eventually.
