Blockbuster NBA trades for Russell Westbrook: New York Knicks

Knicks receive: Russell Westbrook, 2025 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

Lakers receive: Evan Fournier, Kemba Walker, Alec Burks

The New York Knicks have been searching for a franchise point guard for years. While Russell Westbrook may be past his prime, this would still qualify.

Adding Westbrook to that Knicks team could be what they need to get over the hump. New York has been struggling even more than the Lakers have this season.

Westbrook is known for one thing – dragging teams to the playoffs. The Knicks have more talent than some other teams he has been able to take there.

He helped lead the Wizards to the playoffs last year, and some of those Thunder teams he took to the postseason were terrible in comparison to this year’s Knicks squad.

Letting Westbrook run the offense with Julius Randle and RJ Barrett by his side would be great. Plus, Mitchell Robinson and Nerlens Noel would thrive with Westbrook throwing them lobs.

For the Lakers, they would be getting some pieces that would fit infinitely better with their roster. Instead of a ball-dominant guard who can’t shoot well, they’d be adding three solid sput-up shooters.

Evan Fournier, Kemba Walker, and Alec Burks are all shooting well from deep this year. That should be enough for Lakers fans, as that is a huge area of need.
