The New York Knicks are currently three games under .500 at 13-16 and sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference. According to NBA rumors, they are actively looking to do things to change that.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, there is “a long list of potentially available players the Knicks have talked about internally.” Several NBA trade targets have crossed their mind.

NBA Rumors: New York Knicks have “a long list” of trade targets right now

New York’s offseason additions of Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier have not been working out as planned. Therefore, some fresh faces could be exactly what the team needs right now.

One of Berman’s sources even believes that the New York Knicks will have to trade or buy out Walker by the deadline. That’s how disappointed the team has been with his performance.

The common gripe with the Knicks this season is their fall-off on the defensive end. They rank 24th in the NBA in defensive rating so far this season (110.7).

However, they also rank eighth-worst in the league in scoring (105.8). One of their trade targets would be able to help with that in a major way.

NBA Rumors: Eric Gordon is one of the trade targets of the New York Knicks

Berman stated that Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon is fully on the New York Knicks’ radar. A big reason behind that is point guard Derrick Rose.

Rose and Gordon played AAU basketball together, and according to Berman, Rose even tried to recruit Gordon to the Knicks when he signed there the first time around in 2016.

Gordon is having a great season this year, averaging 15.1 points and shooting 44.8 percent from three-point range. That ability to shoot from deep would help the Knicks out a ton.

Having someone who can shoot as well as Eric Gordon would seriously change the way New York’s bench looks. With Kemba Walker struggling and Alec Burks now starting, more guard play would be welcomed.

The Knicks would have to find a way to match Gordon’s salary, though, as he is making just over $18 million this season. However, if they can make it work, it could be well worth it.
