3 NBA trade targets to help the Brooklyn Nets chase a title: Myles Turner

Though this one might seem somewhat far-fetched, Myles Turner would be a perfect fit for the Nets. While Young would be a solid addition to give Brooklyn a boost in the frontcourt, Turner would catapult the team’s already sky-high championship odds.

The 25-year-old Turner is most well known for his defense, having led the NBA in blocked shots twice, and currently on pace to do it once again. The big man is undoubtedly an admirable interior defender, which would help the Nets, who could use the added muscle inside.

Once again, Turner would be a massive addition in a hypothetical series against Milwaukee and the Greek Freak due to his defensive stature. Having him guard Antetokounmpo over players like Blake Griffin or Paul Millsap would be a luxury.

Although he is known for his defense, Turner is no slouch offensively, either. Currently averaging 12.8 points while shooting 51.4 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from long distance, the big man would add another element to this offense. Nets fans can only imagine the constant lobs that Turner would catch from Harden on the offensive end.

The challenging part with any Turner trade starts – and possibly ends – with his hefty salary. The big man is making $17.5 million this season, which would require the Nets to jump through some financial hoops to pull off a trade.

Yet, Turner is currently in the center of trade rumors after The Athletic’s Shams Charania (subscription required) recently reported that the Pacers are potentially eyeing a rebuild and Turner could be among the first out the door.

He will have no shortage of interested suitors, and the Brooklyn Nets need to make a run at him. Adding him would distance the Nets from the rest of the NBA’s top contenders.
