NBA trades to help the New York Knicks make the playoffs: Philadelphia 76ers

Knicks receive: Ben Simmons

76ers receive: Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, Obi Toppin, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick

This trade would only happen if and when the Philadelphia 76ers drop their price on Ben Simmons. However, if they do, the Knicks should seriously consider making this deal.

With how much their defense has fallen off this season, New York needs someone to help re-spark that defensive intensity. Who would be better at doing that than Simmons?

Simmons was a top-three candidate for Defensive Player of the Year last season. On top of that, he would be the starting point guard the Knicks have been searching for for the last decade.

On the other side of things, the 76ers would be getting two quality players who could help them win right now. Plus, they’d get a nice young piece and two draft picks.

Evan Fournier could start at small forward for them while Alec Burks would solidify their bench unit. As for Obi Toppin, he could find a nice role for himself off the bench in Philadelphia.

Again, this trade would only happen if the 76ers lowered their price on Simmons. They want a top-25 player for him right now, and this trade definitely doesn’t give them that.
