NBA Trades: 4 big names that are dark horses to be traded – Jonas Valanciunas

Simply put, Jonas Valanciunas has been spectacular this season. In addition to his strong rebounding numbers, he’s among the league’s leaders in three-point percentage, currently sporting a pristine 46.3 percent mark.

Despite his All-NBA-level play, the Pelicans own seven wins – fewest in the Western Conference. Zion Williamson’s return is a mystery and the roster is plagued by other injuries as well. They’re not likely to turn things around and get back into the playoff hunt.

If they blow things up at the deadline, expect Valanciunas to be on the move. The center has a team-friendly deal that runs through 2023-24 and they should easily be able to get a talented young piece in exchange for him.

On the other end of the stick, whatever team that acquires the floor-stretching big man would receive a huge boost. He can make fringe playoff hopefuls into true title contenders.

To speculate on some landing spots, championship-hopeful teams like the Mavericks, Nets, Hornets, and Celtics could use his talents. His time in the Big Easy has been impressive to be sure. It just might not last much longer.
