NBA Trades: 4 big names that are dark horses to be traded – De’Aaron Fox

After an offseason full of Buddy Hield trade rumors, the Kings kept their quad box of guards for 2021-22. That traffic-jam grouping of De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Davion Mitchell, and Hield hasn’t worked out. Just ask Luke Walton.

Using high draft picks on point guards in back-to-back seasons is odd when Fox is on the roster already. Now that the team continues to struggle, it may be time to rethink their backcourt rotation.

Who will be the odd man out? It’s incredibly unlikely that they trade either of their promising players on their rookie contracts, so it’s likely Hield or Fox. The latter would have much higher trade value.

The Kings haven’t made the playoffs in any of Fox’s seasons with them and don’t look appear to be on track to ending that streak anytime soon. Fox is a stellar shot creator, but his time in Sacramento might be running out.

If the team fancies pairing their young guards with a star forward like Ben Simmons or Pascal Siakam, Fox would likely be enough to get a deal done.
