Trade targets for the Los Angeles Lakers this season: Justin Holiday
While the Lakers have their share of issues this season, the offensive production from the bench is not one of them. LA’s second unit currently ranks seventh in points, eighth in field goal percentage, and seventh in three-point percentage.
The reserves are constantly giving the team a much-needed boost. While they already have a strong second unit, nabbing a player like Justin Holiday for added support would not hurt in the bigger picture.
Holiday has been a quality piece for the Indiana Pacers over the past three seasons, averaging 9.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. One of his strongest attributes is the three-point shot, as Holiday has knocked down 38.6 percent of his triples on 5.6 attempts per contest in that three-year timeframe.
While he is not known for his defense, Holiday has proven himself to be a pesky defender utilizing his 6-foot-6 height and 7-foot wingspan. Both of those could be useful for the Lakers.
With The Athletic’s Shams Charania (subscription required) reporting that the Pacers are looking to enter a possible rebuilding phase, Holiday should be available for trade.
The 32-year-old guard should draw plenty of interest from contenders if that is indeed the case, and his $6 million salary for this season should only make him all the more desirable. The Lakers would be wise to at least kick the tires on a possible deal.
