NBA Power Rankings Week 7: The battle for the number one spot
By Jack Simone
Week 7 NBA power rankings: 9. Washington Wizards (14-9)
Rank last week: 8th
Record this past week: 1-2
The Washington Wizards are still slowing down after a great start to the season. They went 1-2 this past week, and Bradley Beal continued to struggle mightily shooting-wise.
It’s tough to gauge just how good this Wizards team really is because no one expected them to look this good. Only time will tell, but they need Beal to turn things around soon.
Week 7 NBA power rankings: 8. Miami Heat (14-10)
Rank last week: 5th
Record this past week: 1-3
Injuries are seriously hampering the Miami Heat at the moment, but a 1-3 record this past week was still not ideal. A blowout loss to the Cavaliers really defined their rough stretch.
Not having Bam Adebayo for an extended period of time is really going to test Miami. They’ll need guys who have been struggling, such as Duncan Robinson, to start stepping up.
Week 7 NBA power rankings: 7. Cleveland Cavaliers (13-10)
Rank last week: 18th
Record this past week: 3-0
Just when it looks as though the Cleveland Cavaliers have come back down to earth, they go on a three-game win streak. Not only that, but the wins have been impressive ones.
They took down the Heat, Mavericks, and Wizards in the same week. The Cavs have this innate ability to compete with the best teams in the NBA, and it makes for some seriously entertaining basketball.
