Week 7 NBA power rankings: 21. New York Knicks (11-12)

Rank last week: 13th

Record this past week: 0-3

Despite moving Kemba Walker to the bench, the New York Knicks have continued to struggle. They went 0-3 last week, and even though they played some stiff competition, 0-3 is still 0-3.

The Knicks had playoff hopes entering this season, and while those hopes are very much still alive, they are currently out of the picture, and wouldn’t even be in the play-in tournament if the season ended today.

Week 7 NBA power rankings: 20. Portland  Trail Blazers (11-13)

Rank last week: 14th

Record this past week: 1-3

A 1-3 week was enough to send the Portland Trail Blazers down six spots. That’s how competitive the league is this year – there are too many good teams for them to maintain their spot after a bad week.

To make matters worse, the Blazers are dealing with a whole host of injuries. As a result, they have gotten the doors blown off them in two straight games (one against the Spurs, one against the Celtics).

Week 7 NBA power rankings: 19. Minnesota Timberwolves (11-12)

Rank last week: 17th

Record this past week: 1-2

The Minnesota Timberwolves got extremely hot for a stretch, but have come back down to earth a bit since. They lost to two tough opponents last week but managed to put up a fight in each game.

The defense of Jarred Vanderbilt continues to be a crucial part of their gameplan, and Karl-Anthony Towns’ offensive production has been off the charts recently.
