NBA Trades for the Brooklyn Nets to get rid of Kyrie Irving: Dallas Mavericks

Nets receive: Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, Trey Burke, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2026 First-Round Pick

Mavericks Receive: Kyrie Irving

The Nets would get a decent amount of value back in this trade, although it wouldn’t come close to matching Kyrie Irving’s star power. That being said, not many teams are going to be willing to trade a star for Irving at this point.

Tim Hardaway Jr. would immediately come in and be a solid third option for the Nets. He’s a streaky shooter who, despite a down season, can usually be counted on to chip in 15-20 points a night.

Maxi Kleber would definitely help with Brooklyn’s lack of a paint presence. Not only is he another big body to throw down low, but he can stretch the floor, too.

Lastly, there’s Trey Burke – a classic bucket-getter. Burke is nearing the ladder half of his career, so probably wouldn’t get much playing time, but he’s a nice piece to have as a backup plan to Patty Mills.

The draft picks Brooklyn would get back are solid, too. They have a severe lack of draft capital due to the James Harden trade last season.

On the Mavericks’ side of things, they’d be getting an elite-level guard to pair next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Dallas has always said they want another ball-handler next to Doncic, and Irving certainly qualifies.
