2021 second-round NBA rookies that already look like steals: Ayo Dosunmu

A fan favorite before he even took the court, Ayo Dosunmu is a Chicago native who played his college ball at Illinois. His addition to the Bulls has been much more than a novelty.

Competing against a roster full of veterans, the playmaker has carved out a consistent role in the rotation. He’s averaging over 15 minutes per game and has had several bursts of offensive excellence.

In a blowout win over the Nets on November 8th, he notched 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Further, he’s hit at least one 3-pointer in 12 of his first 19 appearances.

Outside his own scoring, he’s also able to impact the game with his passing. He’s unselfish, smart, and accurate with his table setting, making it easy to see why coach Billy Donovan has trusted him early on.

While unlikely to break into the starting lineup, he should continue to be a crucial piece of a strong second unit that also includes Alex Caruso, Coby White, and Derrick Jones Jr. He was the No. 38 pick of the 2021 draft, and from what we’ve seen so far, should have definitely gone earlier than that.
